On our search for vegan lip balm, after discovering our old favourites weren’t animal friendly, we were pretty sure we were on a hopeless adventure. After using coconut oil to heal an allergic reaction on my face and lips, I fancied something more practical for university and shopping trips in the form of a lip balm – on a side note, I highly recommend coconut oil for healing damaged lips, it works a treat.
Crazy Rumors was calling out to us as we looked around Holland and Barrett’s selection, and I was thrilled to see the huge variety! Rob picked up Peppermint Twist and I chose Bubble Gum. The child in me was thrilled. There was an array of interesting flavours, all suitable for vegans, and all made with natural and mostly organic ingredients.
I researched the company in more detail when we got home, and I was thrilled to see the fun continued on their website. Not only this, but Crazy Rumors’ products are free from some of the main allergens that cause trouble for people – however you should always read the labels to double check you’re not going to keel over if you pop it not your face. It’s also good to see that although the ingredients are natural and kind to skin, the product as a whole has a great shelf life of between 1 and 1.5 years.
So, what did we think? We loved them. We opened them as soon as we left the shop and applied them. I was pleased to find that the Bubble Gum lip balm did in fact taste just like bubble gum, and it has the tasty artificial flavour I love about bubble gum – something that other bubble gum lovers might understand. Rob really liked his Peppermint Twist too, so we have a thumbs up from our sensitive lipped vegan man! Mixing the two with a cheeky kiss to test created an interesting combination, and I’m still undecided as to whether I love it or hate it.
After the first application my lips felt so much softer, and after a couple of days the little trouble areas I had left on my lips from my reaction had softened up and vanished – the added shea butter makes the lip balm luxuriously moisturising. To say I was impressed is an understatement. Both of us suffer in the winter months with our lips, but Crazy Rumors may have just changed the game completely.
I love finding vegan brands, especially ones that use organic and natural ingredients, and Crazy Rumors is now a staple in the Brammer Hardie household. Let me know in the comments if you have a favourite vegan lip balm, or if you’ve tried any of the other selections available from Crazy Rumors.
