21 Notes of Wisdom on my 21st Birthday

Enjoy!

*****

1. “Don’t take anything personally.”

I first heard this at the end a Lesley Fightmaster yoga video. This is one of the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, and it has made me so much happier within myself. Now that I’m old(er) and wise(r) I see that holding onto the negative words of others is a waste of our time. Honestly.

2. Don’t believe everything you read.

I’m Batman.

3. Feel your feelings.

Too many times I have kept my feelings to myself and it always ends up terrible for me. When the feelings hit, let them out there and then, don’t hold back for anything or anyone. Future you will thank you for it!

4. Smiles are infectious.

(Vegan) CHEESE!

5. Eat out of the pan, save a dish.

Whatmore did you expect from a student?

6. When your mum tells you not to touch. Don’t touch.

Irons are hot. Very hot.

7. Retrace your steps and you’ll remember.

Ever walk into a room and forget what you were after? Go back to where you were previously and it’ll come back to you, most of the time. Pro tip.

8. Not everyone is nice.

I try to see the good in everyone, but some people are just downright awful. Why is this on this list?

9. Being nice to yourself really pays off.

Aren’t you fabulous?

10. (At least try to) learn another language.

English is fine and dandy, but learning to speak, read and write in another language is really fun, and it can also help with your grasp of your own language. There’s no better way to learn grammar than in a foreign language class. I’m no good at any I’ve tried to learn so far, but one day I will be!

11. Early bedtimes are worth it.

Boring but true.

12. Waking up early is worth it.

Watching the sun rise, something done rarely by this lazy bones, is one of my favourite experiences.

13. Abba

14. Make new friends.

Lots of cat friends. Cats are good people. Well, cats.

15. There’s probably more to it than that.

Crash bang wallop *the sound of a mine shaft collapsing*

16. It’s probably as simple as it seems.

Sometimes what you see really is what you get. Isn’t life wonderfully paradoxical?

17. Just be you.

If you love pink, paint your wall pink. Don’t wait until the year before you leave home and move into a rented place. True story, pro tip.

18. If it looks like enough pasta, it’s probably not.

Too little, too much. You will never win. No tip here, just an observation.

19. Wear your glasses.

If people start to look like fuzzy blobs, just put your glasses on. They look great. You look great. Embrace seeing clearly! This could apply to most ‘medical’ devices, and is one that now at the age of 21 I strongly stand behind.

20. Endings come sooner than you think.

21. Compassion makes sense.

It really does.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have been able to take something from this list, even it was just a little smile. Have a wonderful day, weekend and week. I’ll be back soon with cupcakes.

With love from your BFF Vegan.
